Weekend Naturalist Walk: Wildflowers

June 4, 2017 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am EDT

Free

Explore the beauty of Welkinweir’s wildflowers with an experienced local naturalist!

Stroll through the meadows, around the ponds, and on the woodland hiking trails of our scenic 197-acre preserve and arboretum. During this walk, you will learn how to identify a variety of wildflowers, as well as little-known facts about their history and significance within their environment. We also point out each plant’s pollinators or other special wildlife; keep an eye out for butterflies like Monarchs or Tiger Swallowtails in particular!

Dress for the season and wear sturdy walking shoes. Bring water, a camera, and field guides if you have them. We will meet at Welkinweir’s visitor parking lot off of Prizer Road. This event will take place rain or shine unless severe weather threatens.
