Volunteer

Help Welkinweir grow!

We have several volunteer opportunities for interested individuals, corporate volunteers, students, and/or Scouts:

Bird Box Monitoring

Help maintain nest boxes for breeding Bluebirds and more. Monitor the nesting efforts of native birds throughout the breeding season as part of our citizen science program. Results are sent to Cornell’s Lab of Ornithology. Sign up today!

Gardening

Weather permitting, work with staff in Welkinweir’s gardens, planting, pruning, weeding, and/or mulching.

Adopt a Garden!

Individuals or small groups are invited to adopt one of Welkinweir’s gardens; volunteers will be responsible for the garden’s upkeep, and may maintain it as schedules allow. Sign up today!

Trail Maintenance

Help keep our trails open and accessible! Seasonal maintenance includes cutting/clearing of brush, erosion repairs, and/or maintenance of foot bridges. Sign up today!

 Corporate Volunteers

We can accommodate groups as small as 5 or as large as 50 at Welkinweir! Our experienced staff will provide the materials and instruction; your company would provide the manpower, refreshments, and a few tools. Contact us to inquire!

Friends of Welkinweir

Be a part of a special group of volunteers dedicated to supporting Welkinweir and our work. The Friends of Welkinweir provides support to enhance Welkinweir’s aesthetic, educational, and environmental capabilities, in order to foster greater public awareness, knowledge, and enjoyment of horticulture and nature.
