What trees grow naturally in your community? Join GVWA staff to learn tree identification basics and the importance of native trees. A walk through Welkinweir’s arboretum to test our skills and view fall foliage will follow. Participants will receive an identification guide to the trees of “Penn’s Woods”. Part of the statewide Walk in Penn’s Woods initiative.
Green Valleys Watershed Association is throwing a "star-gazing" party...and you're invited! Join GVWA and the Chester County Astronomical Society for an event dedicated to viewing the night sky. Gaze at the stars and planets through CCAS members' telescopes, and see how many constellations you can spot from around a campfire!
Come face to face with live owls! Visits with live owls will highlight the habits and adaptations of these amazing nocturnal predators. Then we’ll walk the trails of Welkinweir listening and looking for Great Horned and Eastern Screech Owls. Spaces are limited and advanced registration is required. This program occurs on Friday, November 3; Saturday, November 4; and Friday, November 10.
