Children’s Garden

Loosely based on the design of a Pennsylvania Dutch “four square” garden, the Children’s Garden is partitioned into four separate areas by red gravel paths, with a bird bath in the center.

In June, the garden is rapidly transformed as perennials and re-seeding annuals begin their summertime display. The blooms attract pollinators such as butterflies and bees, turning the garden into a hub of activity on hot summer days. The garden is framed by a few trees and shrubs, but mostly features pollinator-friendly perennials, colorful annuals, and vegetables & herbs. Tucked into one corner is a Kenyan-style “top bar” beehive that has viewing windows on either side.
